ABOUT THE DTP SPECIALIST

A DTP (or desktop publishing) specialist is an artworker who plays a key role in the translation project management process.
The ultimate goal of DTP is to make the material that has been translated easy for the end user to read. Hence, a DTP specialist will solve any technical issues by copyfitting to adapt texts that are too long, or by reworking layouts so that they fit in better with the relevant linguistic conventions (for example, texts reading from right to left for documents in Arabic, Hebrew and Farsi).

HOW DTP WORKS

THE FULL PUBLISHING CYCLE

Original files, in Adobe InDesign®, FrameMaker®, PageMaker®, QuarkXPress®, Quicksilver® or other software formats, are translated using universal editors that effectively keep the same page layout and formatting (titles, bold type, italics, fonts, etc.).
The formatting and graphics of the resulting document, in the new language, thus remain true to the original.
Lastly, we use special IT tools to translate texts contained in images (Adobe Illustrator® and Photoshop®) and technical drawing texts (Microsoft Visio® and AutoCAD®).
