Machine translation

WHAT IT IS, AND WHY IT IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ONLINE TRANSLATION

Machine Translation + Post-Editing (PE) is a translation procedure that involves an initial stage performed with Machine Translation engines, followed by Post-Editing, a crucial stage handled by professional translators.

So how does it differ from the kind of automated translation offered for free by the main search engines?
The former element is the use of software or machines that we “teach” over a period of time, while the latter is the work of the Post-Editor.

HOW IT WORKS

The job of the expert Post-Editor — in line with the practices set out in standard ISO 18587:2017 — is to check that the translation output is accurate and comprehensible, improving its quality. Another important part of the Post-Editor’s job is to ensure that terminology is consistent, something that is vitally important, especially when dealing with a text of a technical nature.
The level of complexity of the post-editing service varies depending on the arrangements we make with you during the preliminary analysis: it might consist in just a simple spelling and grammar check, or involve highly complex post-editing aimed at delivering superior quality and ensuring the resulting text reads and flows better.

CHOSE SOGET EST FOR YOUR NEXT MT+PE TRANSLATION

We have always kept a close eye on developments in professional translation technology, and hence continue to experiment in the field of machine translation (MT), both through training for our translators (by means of courses, workshops and webinars) and with in-house tests and simulations designed to check the reliability and quality of machine translation processes.

We offer our machine translation service in parallel to our regular professional translation service provided by expert translators in order to give you even more options when certain time and budget constraints or specific opportunities call for a different approach to the documents’ translation.
