On the 25th of October, a few days before the G20 summit was convened in Rome, the “Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Night” was held at The Hive Hotel, organized by Hu Lanbo, Editor-in-Chief of “Cina in Italia/China in Italy” and by the Chinese National Tourism Office based in Rome.
An important event to promote the 24th edition of the Winter Olympic Games, due to be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February, and the 13th edition of the Winter Paralympics, from 4 to 13 March 2022. Having hosted the Olympic Games in 2008, Beijing has become the first “double Olympic” city in the world.
The purpose of the evening was to promote the Olympic spirit and its values, which have always advocated the power of sharing as a means to triumph over geopolitical discord and to continuously foster economic and cultural collaboration.
This sharing sees Italy and China once again brought together by this special “Olympic” bond, given that the 2022 Beijing edition will then set the stage for the launch of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games.
The evening was marked by a successful collaboration between Italo-Chinese performers and representatives of various Italo-Chinese institutions, with the night’s entertainment punctuated by tales of friendship between the two countries from Rome’s councillors, with Italy’s former Ambassador to China, Riccardo Sessa, also making a speech.
Emceeing the evening was actor Shi Yang Shi, who is famous for his intercultural endeavours between Italy and China, and who came to Milan specially for the occasion.
We are delighted that the evening’s lineup notably included a number of performers brought in by the Veneto delegation represented byLiu Zun’s “Filo di Seta” Association, namely actress Huang Wei, and an original performing duo made up of Chinese tenor Sun Chuangyu and local musician Antonio Bertamini: an artistic collaboration borne out of an idea by our own co-founder Isabella Toppao, who was also in attendance.
Getting behind cultural and social events that are important for vital collaboration between different peoples is very much part of our company’s mindset, which will no doubt see us engage in more and more of these initiatives, and in an increasingly active role.
